Parent Engagement

Fall and Spring Fundraisers

Each Fall and Each Spring, a Fundraiser is held to raise funds for the school. These school wide events are the significant source of funds for the PTO activities.

Market Day

Market Day is a Fundraiser that is offered to Jackson Staff, families and the surrounding community. The purchase of these delicious frozen foods provide a healthy, convenient way to support the school. Various school clubs, groups, and grade levels volunteer to help with the set up and pick up and then receive 80% of the profit for their group.

Parent Communication and Outreach

Quarterly Newsletter

  • With each report card, a Quarterly Informational Newsletter is sent home with the students. This newsletter provides updated information about school events and activities, dates of important events, review of school procedures, and information about what is happening at Jackson.

FACS Program

  • The FACS program provides the bridge needed by all students to deal with major societal issues such as work-and-family, health care, child and elder care, family and community violence and crime, global economics and politics, and technology usage.

Power School

  • PowerSchool is the computer software used by the Jackson Intermediate Center to keep track of student information. It helps parents and guardians be an active part of their student's education and keep track of academic progress on a daily basis.

Email

  • All teachers, staff, and administrators have an email account. Parents are encouraged to use the email accounts as another way to communicate with the school.

Telephone

  • Out dial- the school frequently uses an Outdial system to communicate with all families. The automated telephone system delivers a prerecorded message to each home.

Student Agendas

Parent Teacher Conferences

  • Parent Conferences are held twice a year in the spring and fall.
  • Parent participation averages between 80-90%.
Parent Teacher Organization

'Small but Mighty'

The PTO supports the school in numerous ways. Through their dedication and commitment they support the education effort in various ways:

  • Funding field trips
  • Purchasing technology and equipment
  • Supporting the annual Field Day activities
  • Purchasing gifts for all exiting 8thgrade students
  • Recognizing and honoring teachers and staff through a Holiday Breakfast and a Teacher/Staff Recognition Luncheon

The PTO serves many other functions, and is always looking for dedicated parents to help cultivate an effective parent-teacher relationship. The PTO meets the second Thursday of each month to discuss, determine and organize activities, events and fund raisers.
